Marcus Bachmann has promised to campaign against gay marriage if his wife Michele is elected US president.
Marcus told an audience in Iowa that he will use his position as “First Man” to coordinate a nationwide campaign focused on the conservative traditional family values, including an anti-same sex marriage platform, the Star Observer reports.Marcus told the crowd: “I’ve decided my cause is… pro-marriage, pro-family, and pro-life,”
“We’re going to get this message across that marriage is between one man and one woman.
“We’re not going to minimise what the family is, we’re going to promote families.
“Remember, we are not disrespectful or dishonouring of someone who is choosing and being gay in their lifestyle or wanting to be married. That’s up to the churches. But as the government defines marriage as between one man and one woman, that’s pretty universally understood.”
Marcus and his wife Michelle jointly own and run a “pray the gay away” gay conversion clinic, which claims that gays can be turned straight through prayer.

BACHMANN: “President Obama has the lowest public approval ratings of any president in modern time.”
THE FACTS: That’s true, if you leave out Harry Truman, Richard Nixon, George W. Bush, Jimmy Carter, George H.W. Bush, Lyndon Johnson, Ronald Reagan, Bill Clinton and Gerald Ford. All of them at some point in their terms dipped lower than Obama’s low point of 38 percent job approval, according to Gallup’s comparison.

“I don’t know how much God has to do to get the attention of the politicians. We’ve had an earthquake; we’ve had a hurricane. He said, ‘Are you going to start listening to me here?’ Listen to the American people because the American people are roaring right now. They know government is on a morbid obesity diet and we’ve got to rein in the spending.” -Michele Bachman

The first was TJ. Then came Samantha, Aaron, Nick, and Kevin. Over the past two years, a total of nine teenagers have committed suicide in a Minnesota school district represented by Rep. Michele Bachmann—the latest in May—and many more students have attempted to take their lives. State public health officials have labeled the area a “suicide contagion area” because of the unusually high death rate.
Some of the victims were gay, or perceived to be by their classmates, and many were reportedly bullied. And the anti-gay activists who are some of the congresswoman’s closest allies stand accused of blocking an effective response to the crisis and fostering a climate of intolerance that allowed bullying to flourish. Bachmann, meanwhile, has been uncharacteristically silent on the tragic deaths that have roiled her district—including the high school that she attended.
More here. Not to suggest this is a direct correlation, but she certainly isn’t attempting to cultivate a friendly/safe environment for homosexuals.
